Humanity – A Group!
Humanity – A Group
Today is Eid!
Dear All, I have a question, Do we deserve to celebrate this Eid? If answers are yes, then can we justify our celebrations? I agree Eid-ul-fitr is not just a festival to celebrate but Eid is deeper than mere celebrations and relaxation. It is a day of joy, bonding, helping one another and spreading happiness all over the globe:
Bonding, helping one another and spreading happiness all over the globe: Is this what we are doing? Look past the month and the year there have been crimes in our own cities and all over the globe. Crimes, killing, hunger and struggle all around and we are celebrating!
The whole month we assembled in large congregations wearing the best dresses, standing shoulder to shoulder, demonstrating everyone that the universal brotherhood is a distinguishing feature. Post Eid, universal brotherhood will only be seen on papers and mosques on Fridays. We are good at protesting for crimes happening nearby or if it is in our city or country. One country is up against the humanity and our universal brotherhood is only on papers. We show solidarity and stand shoulder to shoulder but when issues come up then each one has a different law for each of us. We are not bothered what is happening around us. We have to remember that if our surrounding is neat and clean only then we will be healthy and safe.
I remember a story shared by Steve Goodier which I reminds how a farmer works for the best fields around him.
A farmer grew award-winning corn. Each year he entered his corn in the state fair where it won a blue ribbon. One year a newspaper reporter interviewed him and learned something interesting about how he grew it. The reporter discovered that the farmer shared his seed corn with his neighbors. “How can you afford to share your best seed corn with your neighbors when they are entering corn in competition with yours each year?” the reporter asked. “Why sir,” said the farmer, “didn’t you know? The wind picks up pollen from the ripening corn and swirls it from field to field. If my neighbors grow inferior corn, cross-pollination will steadily degrade the quality of my corn. If I am to grow good corn, I must help my neighbors grow good corn.” He is very much aware of the connectedness of life. His corn cannot improve unless his neighbor’s corn also improves.
So it is with our lives. Those who choose to live in peace must help their neighbors to live in peace. Those who choose to live well must help others to live well, for the value of a life is measured by the lives it touches. And those who choose to be happy must help others to find happiness, for the welfare of each is bound up with the welfare of all.
We think my home is safe, my city is safe, and my country is safe. It would not take much time for an incident to happen in your life. Shall we wake up after that or we wake up before?
We are created by one and our parents are one but each one proclaims we belong to different groups. What are these groups? Does our own book, which we believe in or did our leader belonged to any groups which we talk about today. We are not entitled to get an hearing and Mufti’s can’t issue a fatwa and enforce against any person who has not approached for religious opinion. Is this not a shame on our part that SC rules our fatwas out? We have to analyze ourselves as why this decision was given. This is on the wake of different people giving different fatwas for one issue. When Qur’an is one then how is that each one issues different fatwas? When all this is happening then how can we say we are united?
Fasting and the past month has taught us to be united, sacrifice, help and respect every human irrespective of race, caste, creed and gender. Can we show the same solidarity whenever some untoward incident happens around us? Solidarity just doesn’t come when we protest by not using products made by the enemies it comes when we show the solidarity on the outlook. God created us from a drop of blood and in best form, “We have certainly created man in the best of stature – Qur’an – Chapter 95: 4”. God has created us and made us look beautiful from outside but our inner is so bad that our characters and self-conscience don’t exist.
We always wanted to look beautiful and would like to get appreciated all the time but when we are together we speak ill about others and think that our group is an elite group and others are fake. When will we come out of this groupism and have one group called humanity. Can we create a group with this name and do not care who the member is and where are he is from, which race, caster and gender he/she is. The day we form this group of humanity that is the day which shall be called as “Eid” and feel the true sense of celebrations.
Let us re-dedicate our life to the cause of humanity, which is the best way to demonstrate our love of God. Let us resolve that our energies, in the coming year and strengthen our society based on mutual respect, brotherly love, and universal understanding. Let’s promise that we will build a social order which would bring not only the material benefits, but also the spiritual satisfaction and create a beautiful and safe space for our next generations.
